Men's Tennis Gets Win Over Villanova

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's tennis team swept doubles play Sunday, March 16 to earn its third win of the season over Villanova, 4-3. The Spiders also took three matches in singles play with wins from Doug Banker, Michael Sommer and William Minter. The Spiders' doubles dominated Villanova on Sunday going 3-0. The team of Michael Sommer and Drew Crank defeated Villanova's Chimerakis/Maker handedly, 8-3. Also earning wins for the Spiders were the pair Doug Banker and William Minter and David Berry teamed up with Sami Belakhlef. In singles action for Richmond, Banker won the number one spot over Chimerakis of Villanova, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The Spiders' number two player, Sommer, also took home a win in singles play over the Wildcats' Tobin, 6-3, 6-4. William Minter fought hard in the number four position to earn the Spiders' third win in singles play against Villanova's Shaheen in a 6-4, 6-3 decision. The Spiders return to action Thursday, March 20 as they host Georgetown for a 2:30 p.m. ET match. Richmond 4, Villanova 3
