Richmond Times-Dispatch Endorses On Campus Stadium Project
As the on campus stadium project moves forward towards an anticipated 2010 completion, the process has already won the approval of The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

An editorial in the Friday May 2 edition concludes that "The university has gone to great lengths to listen to citizens, to explain its intentions, and to learn. Spokesmen for local homeowners say they are not opposed to the stadium expansion; they want to make sure it is done right -- which is the way it is being done."

Spider Football Players Join National Walk At Lunch Day
Members of the Richmond football team took some time during exam week Wednesday to take part in Blue Cross and Blue Shield's National Walk at Lunch Day. Will Healy, Chris Kondorossy, William Bischoff, Kevin Grayson and Brooks York joined Wellpoint/Anthem employees from the Broad and Staples Mill location in an effort to encourage Americans to live healthier lives and reduce unnecessary medical costs due to physical inactivity.

Shields Taken In 4th Round By Oakland; Hightower By Arizona In 5th
Richmond senior WR Arman Shields was the 125th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft on Sunday, taken by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round, while senior RB Tim Hightower was selected in the fifth round by the Arizona Cardinals as the 149th overall pick. The pair represents the Spiders' first NFL draftees since 2000.
