RICHMOND, Va. - After a full day of class, lifting and preseason individual workouts, members of the Richmond men's basketball team spent a couple hours hanging out at the Southside Boys & Girls Club on Monday.

The Spider student-athletes talked to middle school and high school aged children about the importance of education and hard work, and how they need to make the right choices. The players answered questions about the college experience and gave the kids a glimpse at how much work went into getting where they are.

"We all got here through hard work, and with hard work anyone of you can achieve what you want," Richmond sophomore David Gonzalvez told the group.

After talking to the group, the Spider players interacted with all the kids hanging out at the Boys & Girls Club, shooting around on the outdoor basketball courts, playing video games, pool and ping pong.

If you would like Richmond student-athletes to talk to your youth group or school, contact Mark Kwolek at mkwolek@richmond.edu or 804-289-8320.
