UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The annual University of Richmond Student-Athlete Celebration was held on April 9 in the Alice Haynes Room at Tyler Hanes Commons.

All Spider student-athletes were in attendance and watched the 2006-07 athletic highlight film. Each senior student-athlete was recognized with a clock and other academic awards were presented.

The Presidential Citation Award, given to a male and female senior student-athlete who has the highest cum GPA, went to women's swimmer Emily Bateman and men's golfer John Pelet.

The Spider Club Athlete of the Year Awards went to track & field's Beth Crocus, football's Adam Goloboski and lacrosse's Ashley Friend for their athletic contributions, as well as excelling in areas of leadership, scholarship and community involvement.

The Helen Reba Humbert Award, awarded to a graduating male and female student-athlete based on outstanding athletic, leadership and scholarly attributes, went to baseball's Alex Wotring and women's tennis player Beatrice Grasu.

The Donnie Lindsey First-Year Spirit Award is given in his memory to freshmen student-athletes based on outstanding athletic, leadership and scholarly attributes. Freshman baseball player Matt Zielinski and freshman swimmer Katie Sieben.
