The University of Richmond Dance Team: The SpinnURs


The SpinnURs perform at all the home men's and women's basketball games. We stand court-side to cheer on the home team! Two timeouts a game are designated to our team. Our choreograph ranges from Jazz, Hip-hop to Pom. The team is made up of UR student ranging in each class year. We practice Monday and Wednesday nights from 9-11 in the new auxiliary room in the Weinstein Center. If you have dance experience and want to perform in front of a crowd see our try-out information below!

  • Tryouts at the beginning of every fall semester:

  • Warmup

  • Skill section in the center and across the floor consisting of leaps, turns, kicks, gymnastic skills, tricks, etc.

  • Dances:

    Round 1- one jazz routine, one pom routine -Call Backs - one hip-hop routine. The captain and co-captain along with at least one outside person are the official judges. We usually accept 12-15 girls. Normally, if tryouts are on a Saturday, contact for callbacks will be made Sunday, callbacks on the following Monday night, and girls will be informed of decisions by Wednesday.
